National Apprenticeship Week

Date Published: 06/02/20

Airbus came in to talk about apprenticeships in their workplace. Alex, an apprentice, shared his journey of education. He has ASD and felt airbus had supported him to succeed on the apprenticeship and he loved it. He started off at Deeside college learning joinery, skills which came in hand when applying at airbus. Many of our pupils were interested and some will be applying for work experience and apprenticeships.

Feedback from year 8 pupil about Airbus

“I thought the visit was good and I would love to have the chance of going on a work experience when I’m in a older year like yr11.”

From year 11 pupil

“I could really related to the apprentice Alex who talked about his journey. This made me realise that this is something I could do as well. I spoke to them about work experience and they are going to send me an application form and I am also interested in an apprenticeship there”
